The only time we experience change is when we change ourselves. Think about it for a second. When we go in for an interview the majority of us change our attitude and speak in a different tone of voice to sound more professional. Some of us also like to act more proper or romantic on dates to impress our loved ones. It is a change in behavior and attitude that will set you up for future success.
One of my mentors, Jim Rohn, said, “Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” When I first heard this it really spoke to me and I soon realized that in order for my life to get better I had to get better. I challenged myself to improve mentally, emotionally, and physically. This is where the fun of goal setting really started to come into play.
By setting goals we have something to look forward, we have something to challenge us. We are setting a target to go after and in this process of setting the target we are getting closer and closer to actually achieving that goal. We must not only set goals for ourselves but we must also change our level of standards for ourselves and those around us. In this changing process it’s important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals, people who also want to change their lives.
Each day we must work on ourselves harder than we do on out jobs. Reading, listening to audio tapes, research, working out, mediating, starting a new hobby, or even starting to eat healthier are all great ways to get started. By doing one of these things AT LEAST once a day will begin to shift your momentum in a positive way.
Wake up every morning motivated to WIN. This is your life, your dreams, your goals, and no one is able to make them come true except you. Don’t expect change, be the change…
