What is the Law of Attraction?

“The predominant thought or the mental attitude is the magnet, and the law is that like attracts like; consequently, the mental attitude will invariably attract such conditions correspond to its nature.” – Charles Hannel (1866-1949)

Have you ever had a morning where it just seemed like anything that could go wrong did go wrong, and it carried itself into your whole day? For example, you wake up and shuffle your feet around to find your slippers, and you end up stubbing your toe on your nightstand. Thirty minutes later you just got dressed for work, and you’re making your coffee and accidentally spill some on your freshly ironed white shirt. Another thirty minutes go by, and you’re on your way to work when suddenly you hear a slushy sound and feel your car begin to serve. You’ve just run over a 5-inch nail that destroyed your front right tire. You’re an hour late to work, and your boss is so pissed she ends up firing you on the spot. These are all events caused in synchronistic order due in whole part to the Law of Attraction or LOA for short.

What is the LOA and how did I come about finding it you may ask. To put it into one sentence would pretty tricky. Great minds have written about this kind of stuff for centuries now. Which is why I encourage all of you to go out and buy the following books: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz, Living an Inspired Life by Dr. Wayne Dyer, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. These are all great books to help you with your personal and spiritual journey. If I had to give a brief explanation of what the LOA is, I would sum it up into three words. Thoughts become things. The Universe is made of vibrations, frequencies, and energies. Our thoughts carry very high-level vibrations that emit a frequency which will attract circumstances that match the frequency you omit. Joyful thoughts attract joyful experiences. Excited thoughts attract exciting circumstances and events. Pure-hearted thoughts attract pure-hearted people with pure-hearted intentions. The same goes for negative and ill-hearted thoughts. Hateful thoughts attract hateful people. Harmful thoughts attract harmful events. Dishonest thoughts attract dishonest people. Thoughts send out magnetic energy that draws back to you the parallel.

It is time for us as a species to become more conscious beings. The LOA is a Universal Law that is always working for you, whether you like it or not. We have the ability to change so many things in our life if we just realized we have the power to do so. So many people give up so fast and blame all of their hardships on other people. If it’s not Uncle Sam’s fault, then it’s your parent’s fault, and if not your parent’s fault then it’s your spouse’s fault and if it’s not your spouse’s fault then it’s your kid’s fault. My point is that we all need to take a little more responsibility for ourselves (myself included) and direct our thoughts in a more positive direction. In my next article, I’ll go into more depth on how everyday emotions and circumstances are affected by the LOA.
