Since we were kids, we’ve all had dreams and ambitions. But what does it mean to fully pursue those dreams? What does it mean to live a purposeful life? What is the difference between merely living life and enjoying it? These are all great questions, and I’m about to answer all of them.
I’m going to start out by answering the last question I proposed. The difference between living and enjoying life is actually quite simple. When you enjoy life you wake up with a smile on your face and a grateful heart. You feel blessed to live another day. You live with a sense of purpose and fulfillment. You genuinely enjoy the little things in life. (ex. job, family, chores, physical activities) When you are merely just “getting by” in life, you don’t enjoy much at all! You tend to complain about your job. You look forward to watching T.V. rather than spending time with your family. You get exhausted at the thought of exercising. And you seem to just continue to repeat the same dull and drab cycle of life. This is no way to live at all! We were given one opportunity at life, and it is up to us to determine how we’re going to do with it. Now the key to changing the cycle lies within us. It’s our mindset that ultimately produces the satisfaction we derive from life. Once we begin to change our current belief systems, we will change the way we perceive life itself. Remember that anything you learn, you can unlearn. For us to shift our mindset, we have to become aware of our current thought patterns. Once we recognize how we think and why we think we can change those beliefs into something more positive.
Now to answer the second question, we’re going to have to sit down with ourselves and determine what our ultimate purpose is. Were you created to become one of the most recognized presidents of all time? Were you made to become the next Mariah Carey? Were you created to be the best mother you could possibly be to those three wonderful children of yours? At the end of the day, you and God are the only ones that can answer that question. The next thing you have to ask yourself is if you are truly living out that purpose or not. If you are, congratulations, you are living this life to the fullest! And if you aren’t, what’s stopping you? I guarantee it’s your belief system about yourself and your ability to make a change not only if your life but also the life of others. You were born to be great! Out of 400 trillion sperm, you were the one that was manifested into physical existence. Those are some pretty low odds. Whatever you feel like you were born to do, please do not second guess yourself. The world needs you more than ever. You would be doing this universe a big disservice by choosing not to live out our dreams. Don’t let your current mindset get in the way of the impact you could have on this world.
By now, I think I have answered the first question I asked all of you. What does it mean to fully pursue those dreams? Ultimately the answer to that question lies within each and every one of us. In fact, it’s probably different for all of us as well. For me, I know that God has brought me into this world to impact the lives of millions. That’s just the belief I have within myself. For me to fully pursue this idea, I must produce an absurd amount of content. I must step outside of my comfort zone each and every day. I must be kind and compassionate to every human being I meet. And I must work on myself every day, so I can prepare myself for the opportunities to come. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Let them live a life of mediocrity and unfulfillment. Live your dreams, enjoy your life, and pursue a meaningful and fulfilling existence.
